Dwight Yoakam is this week’s Featured Artist on the Simply Country programme with Leslie-Ann Scoular.

Dwight Yoakam is now 62 years of age, now known for his pioneering-style of country music.

His popularity, starting in the mid-1980s, Dwight has recorded more than 20 CD albums and compilations, charted more than 30 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and sold more than 25 million records.

He has recorded five Billboard #1 albums, 12 gold albums, and nine platinum albums, including the triple-platinum ‘This Time’. In addition to his many achievements in the performing arts, he is also the most frequent musical guest in the history of The Tonight Show on US television.w

This week’s featured singer on the Simply Country programme is Chris Young.

In 2006, he was declared the winner of the television program Nashville Star, a singing competition which aired on the USA Network.

Chris Young is from Murfreeboro, Tennessee, USA, is 33 years of age and stands at over 6ft.

On August 29, 2017, Chris was invited by country legend Vince Gill to become a Member of the Grand Ole Opry. He was officially inducted by Brad Paisley.

This week’s Simply Country programme on 100.8 Revival FM presented by Leslie-Ann Scoular has as its featured artist, Glasgow born Dean Owens.

Singer-songwriter Dean Owens has a crystalline voice and a sound that meshes country rock with acoustic ballads combining elements of Woody Guthrie and Townes Van Zandt.

Dean Owens is one of Scotland’s most acclaimed and established singer songwriters, with fans including Bob Harris, Irvine Welsh and Russell Brand.

Armed with a searingly soulful voice and a neat line in memorable heart-twisting melodies, Dean filters his love of Americana through a gritty yet lyrical Scottish sensibility. A compelling and engaging live performer, with an innate ability to connect with any audience.

In his early career, Dean was the front-man of the much loved Scottish Americana band The Felsons. His music has taken him far and wide, including Europe, USA and Australia. He has played shows and toured with the Mavericks, Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris and Joan As Policewoman, to name just a few.

The first week of the New Year on the Me’n’U Till 2 programme with Leslie-Ann and Iain Scoular has the new Neil Young CD release ‘Songs For Judy’ as the featured artist week commencing 7 January 2019.

This Neil Young CD album features live performances from 1976 with 22 songs from Neil’s autumn 1976 tour and includes solo acoustic renditions of ‘Heart of Gold’, ‘The Needle and the Damage Done’, ‘After The Gold Rush’. One song, ‘No One Seems to Know,’ which hasn’t appeared before on any official release.

You will hear a variety of tracks from this brand new Neil Young CD album on Me’n’U Till 2 on weekdays 11.00am until 2.00pm on 100.8 Revival FM.
