TTBA Album of the Month: The Waterboys

TTBA Album of the Month: The Waterboys

Ian Arbuckle has chosen the new CD album from The Waterboys as his featured album during January 2018 on his ‘Turn The Beat Around’ programme on 100.8 Revival FM.

The Waterboys have released their brand-new studio double album Out Of All This Blue; their first for BMG Records, with whom they recently signed.

Produced by Mike Scott and recorded in Dublin and Tokyo, Out Of All This Blue is available on double CD and double vinyl, plus deluxe triple CD, including bonus tracks, and deluxe triple vinyl, including bonus tracks and in digital.

Out Of All This Blue is The Waterboys most exploratory recording yet, comprising 23 songs with Mike Scott’s trademark sharp lyrics set to pop music with echoes of classic R&B, country, soul and funk and underpinned by modern hip-hop production values and rhythms. String & brass sections were arranged and conducted by Trey Pollard of The Spacebomb Collective.

Mike Scott says of the record: “Out Of All This Blue is 2/3 love and romance, 1/3 stories and observations.  I knew from the beginning I wanted to make a double album, and lucky for me – and I hope the listener – the songs just kept coming, and in pop colours.”

Turn The Beat Around with Ian Arbuckle, Wednesday 10 January, 8.00-10.00pm; repeated Saturday 13 January, 3.00-5.00pm plus Catch Up anytime.

Christmas Celebration 2017 successful shows

The Christmas Celebration 2017 series of presentations came to an end on Monday 18 December in the Main Auditorium of The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and to a near capacity audience.

It was one of the biggest attended Christmas Celebrations to date, with all those in the auditorium appreciating the performance of “At Last… NOEL!”

Andrew Polson, musical director said after Monday night’s hugely successful concert: “A great turnout with over 2,000 people and the Celebration Choir singing and enthusiasm in The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall was very, very, special and totally inspiring.

There will not be a better rendition this Christmas anywhere of O Holy Night. And with Emmanuel – the song and message truly blessed me again!

My eldest son said afterwards ‘Dad the finale’s are always brilliant and tingling’ and King of Kings was just that. Praise to God indeed.”

The Christmas Celebration 2017 presentation was “At Last…Noel!” which brought together the individuals and collective singing and musical gifts and talents of The Celebration Choir, The Concert Orchestra drawn from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow, plus special guests including The Gospel Heirs, Jane Gallan and The Stuart Park Trio.
