100.8 Revival FM is embarking on an ambitious new collaborative comedy project called Britain’s Got Satire, and we’re looking for local writers.

So If you think you can write a joke or two, enter the writing competition at www.britainsgotsatire.com for the opportunity to be mentored by, and collaborate with, professional comedians to produce a live comedy show that will be broadcast here on 100.8 Revival FM at the end of April 2016 with an extended show viewable via online TV from the Britain’s Got Satire website.

Britain’s Got Satire is the brainchild of seasoned media professional, Paul Pennington, who has been championing community radio since its inception ten years ago.

Paul is the writer and host of Word On Health at www.wordonhealth.com the longest running weekly health series on independent local radio which features on 80 community stations each week including 100.8 Revival FM.

SatirePaul says: “I hit upon the idea of Britain’s Got Satire to raise awareness of the power and potential of community radio, to get more people involved and provide a vehicle to generate revenue to support these professionally ran, volunteer led stations that don’t get the recognition they deserve by celebrating their ‘by the people for the people’ approach, with the universally loved form of content – comedy.

Britain’s Got Satire will http://www.BritainsGotSatire.comprovide unknown comedy talent with the opportunity to learn and work alongside a team of professional comics to create fresh new topical satire and hopefully provide the newcomers with a gateway to bigger things.

Community Media Association’s chairperson, Lucinda Guy says projects like Britain’s Got Satire will give a much needed boost to community radio.

Britain’s Got Satire is looking for people who want to write comedy and are specifically seeking people who are new writers or who might have started out on a comedic career.

Submissions will close on Sunday 10 April 2016 (and the organisers will be reading/viewing submissions all the way up until the closing date). Semi-finalists will be notified by 6.00pm on Wednesday 13 April 2016. Winners must be available on the day of the live performance, Wednesday 27 April 2016 to participate in writing the pilot show.
