Police Scotland update: M74 road death crash

Police Scotland Officers are appealing for information following a serious road crash in Lanarkshire on Saturday 2 July 2016.

Around 02.30am, a black Mazda CX-3 car was travelling southbound on the M74, as the car exited the motorway onto the slip road (Junction 9); it appeared to lose control and crashed into a barrier.

Emergency services attended and the driver of the car, an 81 year old man, was taken to Wishaw General Hospital.  The 81 year old man who was injured in the crash died in hospital in the early hours of Monday 4 July 2016.

The slip road was closed for several hours as crash scene investigators examined the scene.

Enquiries are continuing to establish the cause of the crash and Road Policing Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact them at Motherwell Police Office on 101.
