SOLAS Festival 2016 at The Bield, near Perth

Jules and Bob from 100.8 Revival FM made the trip to The Bield at Blackruthven, just outside of Perth on the A85 for this year’s Solas Festival  – the 7th – is over for another year and what a weekend!

There was partying to Skerryvore on the main stage plus Stanley Odd, danced to the European cabaret of A New International, quizzed an MP about land reform, had tea with the Mad Hatter in the Little Fawn Theatre Caravan and explored what it means to go ‘Beyond Borders’ in our refugee strand.

Listen to the interview Jules Crispin had with Allison Phipps on Everyday Bordering. Alison’s talk reflected on the ways immigration decision-making has been devolved into every area of public life requiring medics, academics, housing providers, administrators, bankers and others to handle and check immigration status on a daily basis. Alison Phipps OBE is Professor of Languages and Intercultural Studies and Co-Convener of Glasgow Refugee, Asylum and Migration Network (GRAMNet) at the University of Glasgow.  The interview with Alison Phipps will be on Drivetime with Jules on Catch Up soon.

Solas Festival is Scotland’s midsummer festival of music, arts and culture.  Audiences gather at the beautiful site of The Bield at Blackruthven, Tibbermore on the outskirts of Perth.  The festival is now in its seventh year
