Yvonne Lyon West Highland Way fundraising success

Day seven of Yvonne Lyon’s West Highland Way Walk to fundraise for the Stroke Association was the last leg between Kinlochleven and Fort William.

Singer-songwriter yvonne-lyon-end-walkYvonne says in her online diary: “A little teary that this was the last day of walking this magnificent way. Woke up, surprisingly full of energy and needed it to climb the steep ascent out of Kinlochleven. I was rewarded with a great view of the loch and spoiled with mountains on all sides and meandering rivers through the glen towards Fort William.

Magnificent views of Ben Nevis, still with pockets of snow on it’s summit. After a final steep climb, a long and thoughtful meander to the town centre. Delighted to be met by Jo & Russ with balloons & banner.”

Last July 2016, singer-songwriter Yvonne Lyon’s Dad suffered a stroke and one of the first organisations to reach out to him was the Stroke Association with support, advice, resources, connection and community for both him and the family.

Yvonne commented: “We’ve always wanted to walk the West Highland Way, and with it being such a significant year, we wanted to mark it with a special achievement while raising money and awareness for such a great charity.”

As at Sunday 14 May, Yvonne and Jo have raised 188% of the original target in donations.  Now the figure is £1,884.38 including Gift Aid.  Yvonne is now hoping she can reach that magic 200% of target, that is, £2,000.  As of today, Sunday 14 May, Yvonne needs £115.62 to reach £2,000.  If you can donate a few pounds to help reach 200% of the original target, then please visit ‘Jo and Vonny’s Big Four Oh West Highland Way Adventure’ on their JustGiving page here.

The Stroke Association believes in life after stroke. That’s why they campaign to improve stroke care and support people to make the best possible recovery. It’s why the Stroke Association fund research into new treatments and ways to prevent stroke. The Stroke Association is a charity, and rely on the public’s support to change lives and prevent stroke.

  • Yvonne’s new CD single Till We Meet Again was released on Friday 12 May 2017 and is getting airplay on 100.8 Revival FM.
